Pine
Pine trees, from the genus Pinus, are native to the Northern Hemisphere and have thrived for millions of years. Known for their resilience and longevity, pines have needle-like leaves and cones. Pine nuts are rich in essential fats, proteins, and vitamins, while pine needles and resin have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Pine essential oil is popular in aromatherapy for its refreshing scent.
In India, the Chir Pine (Pinus roxburghii) is common in the Himalayan region. Pine resin is used to produce turpentine and rosin, essential in various industries. Pine needles and resin are used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat respiratory issues and skin conditions. Pine forests help prevent soil erosion and provide habitat for wildlife. Pine cones and needles are also used in traditional rituals and decorations during festivals.
